Ahem. *Shimmies up to mic and taps it*. Hello. I'm Yvonne. I'm a wife and mother of 2 with a thing for fancy glasses, dancing awkwardly, and all things Anthony Bourdain.
I've always been a quiet observer and a listener. Growing up, on Sunday afternoons, my father cooked dinner and tell stories of his childhood in West Africa. I'd imagine what the people and places he described so vividly looked like. There were some photos to match with faces, but not nearly enough to paint the whole picture of an entire generation of my family that never crossed the Atlantic.
When I became a mother, I realized a few things. First, children grow way too fast! Second, I could use my camera to document the story of our lives, so hopefully when they're telling the story of their childhood to their little ones, they can break out the photo albums and show them exactly what it looked like. With that same intention, I document your story, striving to capture the authentic moments between husbands and wives, children and parents, and multiple generations of your family. It's both a pleasure and an honor and I thank you for letting me observe, listen and document your stories.
Best,
YS
Fola is 2 going on 25 and Judah's 1 and by the looks of things, you can see what his life is about. They inspire and challenge me every day. I pick up my camera to tell our story.
I want to hear from you!
