Chimereze and Ashley met as medical students at Drexel University. Neither was really looking for a relationship, but after many hours-long conversations and bonding over love of family and God, they knew it was real. After their engagement session at the Philadelphia Art Museum last summer, I knew that their wedding was going to be an emotional one. They’d planned for an outdoor ceremony, but the rain caused a shift in plans. Regardless of the weather outside, the love they share completely made up for it. They exchanged personalized vows in front of their friends and family and…let’s just say there were tears.
Lots of love, lots of laughter, and lots of FUN! I am ALWAYS here for a Nigerian wedding. The couple celebrated Chimereze’s culture with a mid-reception change into traditional Igbo wear. As you’ll see below, that’s when the party really got started. I enjoyed every moment of their special day. Cheers to the newlyweds!
This is actually what guys do when they get ready. “Boutonniere?” Check. “Chapstick?” Check. “Is my breathe tart, bro?” “Naw you’re good.” Check.
Ashley’s nephew! Too stinking cute!
By this time, I was crying too. Because…emotional.
Chimereze is such a gentleman!
I call this one- “We’s married now!”
Ashley’s twin sister and MOH (pictured in coral) captured the first bouquet.
The DJ was fire. #thatisall
Her face is priceless here!
Fun fact: I know two of the ladies in this photo – one from undergrad (and she was my roomie when I lived in Philly) and another from middle school. Both went to med school with Ashley. What a small world.
